Aurora celebrates 102-year-old resident Amy Scott

“Amy Lou turns 102” were the words on a decorated sign to mark a special occasion.

Residents of the Ascension Living Fox Knoll Village gathered on Tuesday, March 19, to celebrate the 102nd birthday of Aurora resident Amy Lou Scott.

Dressed in her favorite color, pink, Amy Scott smiled as she welcomed her neighbors, family members, and friends, as well as special guest Mayor Richard C. Irvin.

“I can’t believe you all came out just to see me,” said the spunky 102-year-old.

Mayor Irvin surprised her with a proclamation naming her birthday – March 19 — Amy Scott Day in the City of Aurora.

Scott and her late husband, who passed away 10 years ago at the age of 92, are the proud parents of three children. She retired in the early 1980s after working for years at the Dina Color Photo Lab in Aurora.

After enjoying a slice of cake with her guests, Scott planned on going out for her favorite meal – biscuits, gravy, and a tall glass of orange juice.
