Golden Hammer Scholarship recipient announced

The Golden Hammer Scholarship was established to honor Carl F. Brooks, the longest serving principal of Hampshire High School and Middle School.

Brooks began his career in Community Unit School District 300 as an Industrial Education teacher; later becoming the head of district transportation and finally Hampshire’s principal.

This year’s recipient Adam Flesher will receive $1,000 to further his education at Associated Builders and Contractors Inc. of Illinois where he hopes to study electricity or carpentry.

“There is a need for hard working tradesmen and I am ready to learn new skills, gain experience and apply my natural affinity for building and creating with my hands.”
