Tax exemption applications available in Palatine Township

Property tax exemption applications for Palatine Township residents are now available for the 2023 tax year at the township assessor’s office, 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine.

The Homeowner Exemption, available to all owner-occupied homes, will automatically renew for those who received it last year. Those who purchased their homes in 2022 will have to apply this year. Recipients of the exemption for People with Disabilities also will have their exemptions automatically renewed.

The Senior Freeze provides seniors with additional savings if the combined income of all members of the household is $65,000 or less and if the senior has been an owner-occupant of the property since Jan. 1, 2022.

Savings from all property tax exemptions will appear on the second installment of 2023 tax bills, which will likely be mailed in late fall.

Township taxpayers with questions about exemptions or needing help applying for them should feel free to call the Palatine Township Assessor’s office, (847) 358-6700.
