Judge candidate has proven public service record

I have been keeping an eye on the contested Democratic primary election for the open seat on the DuPage County 18th Judicial Circuit, Subcircuit 2. I will be voting for Sadia Covert for judge in the Democratic primary on March 19. Covert was elected twice as a Democratic DuPage County Board member and was the first South Asian to be elected to the board.

Before being elected to public office, Covert was awarded the Barack Obama Presidential Service Award for her community service in 2016. In 2017, Covert used her legal experience to co-author an amendment to the Illinois Hate Crime Law, which is unfortunately more relevant today than in 2017. During the housing crisis of 2008, Covert focused her practice on foreclosure defense to save families from losing their homes to foreclosure. Sadia Covert spoke at the United Nations for Women’s Rights in 2018, and I know that Covert is the pro-choice candidate.

As an attorney, Covert built her own private law firm, diversifying her legal experience to include foreclosure defense, criminal defense, family law, business transactions and real estate. She has tried numerous trials throughout her career, working tirelessly for her clients to reach a favorable verdict.

Two things will make Sadia Covert a great judge: Her excellent, diverse legal abilities and her deep understanding and dedication of the people of her district. She is the only candidate in this race with the record to prove both of these distinctions.

Public office is about public service and Sadia Covert has proven she is more than ready to serve our community in the judiciary. That’s why Sadia Covert has my vote for Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit, Subcircuit 2.
