Sheriff: Lake County man slashed family member in face

A 45-year-old Lake County man is recovering from “significant facial injuries” following a knife attack early Wednesday morning by a family member, authorities said.

Aaron Locklear, 54, of the 21200 block of Route 173 near Antioch, is charged with aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery causing bodily harm and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, according to a news release by the Lake County sheriff’s office.

Authorities were called to Locklear’s home just before 12:30 a.m. for a report of a domestic battery in progress.

Investigators said an argument between Locklear and the victim escalated when Locklear produced a knife with an eight-inch blade and slashed the victim across the right side of his face. The wound extends from near the victim’s eye to his lip, authorities said.

Locklear was treated at a hospital for a cut wound to his finger, but was released and remains in custody at the Lake County jail. A detention hearing is slated for Thursday, authorities said.

Investigators believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the attack.
