Registration is now open for Vernon Township’s Summer Camp

This annual summer adventure begins Monday, June 17 for children ages 4-7

Every year, Vernon Township strives to provide an enjoyable summer camp experience with carefully screened camp counselors for township residents. This year’s summer camp will take place from Monday, June 17 through Friday, Aug. 2, at William E. Peterson Park, 16652 N. Buffalo Grove Road, Vernon Hills.

This summer camp caters to children ages 4-7 and offers arts and crafts, games, sports, swimming and other activities. All camp weeks are planned with a theme, and special guest entertainers visit throughout the summer. Camp hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Campers will dress themselves for swimming and must be potty trained. Campers must also bring their own lunch, water bottle, bathing suit, towel, sunscreen, and rain gear — camp will take place outdoors, so please make sure all campers are properly equipped for the weather.

“Summer camp helps children develop social skills, confidence, independence, problem solving skills and friendships,” said Vernon Township Trustee Phil Hirsh. “We are thrilled to once again offer this beloved program and I encourage residents to secure spots for their children by registering now.”

Vernon Township is currently offering part-time, seasonal positions for summer camp counselors, camp supervisors and lifeguard/pool attendant positions at their Aquatic Center, at William E. Peterson Park. Please note that previous lifeguard training or experience is not required, as training is provided.
