Grass Lake School celebrates Family Reading Night at the Antioch Public Library

The Antioch Public Library was the location of the Family Reading night for Grass Lake School on March 6. Students in prekindergarten through eighth grade had the opportunity to visit stations in the library. Those stations offered a range of activities that were intended to encourage students to read and use the facilities offered at the library. There was story-time by the fireside, crafts in the Makerspace and snacks for sustenance.

Fifty two students participated in this delightful event sponsored by teachers Caryn Redman, Keri Kuechel and Kathy Mcllhany. NJHS students were on hand to help with the younger students.

The culminating event was the drawing for the teeming baskets filled with books and goodies. Winners were: second grader Ehle Urban, fourth grader Kai Gutierrez and sixth grader Zoe Poulous. The class with the best attendance was Jennifer Renna’s fourth grade. It was an opportunity to pair up with the community library and see the new renovations as well as experience a welcoming community space.
