Chicago Bar Association makes Cook County judicial recommendations

The Chicago Bar Association, the second largest lawyers organization in the state, has released its recommendations for judicial candidates running in the March 19 primary.

For the Illinois Supreme Court, the CBA found Joy Virginia Cunningham and Jesse G. Reyes highly qualified.

For the Illinois Appellate Court, Mary Lane Mikva, Cynthia Y. Cobbs, Carolyn J. Gallagher, Celia Louise Gamrath and Carl Anthony Walker were found to be highly qualified. The bar association found Leonard Murray qualified.

Cook County-wide circuit court candidate Russ Hartigan was found to be highly qualified. Qualified candidates include: Pablo F. deCastro; Chelsey Renece Robinson; Corrine C. Heggie; Sarah Johnson; Deidre M. Dye; Neil Cohen; Edward Joseph Underhill; Debjani “Deb” Desai; Jennifer Patricia Callahan; James S. Murphy-Aguilu; and Chloe Georgianna Pederson.

Candidates who were not recommended include: Arlene Y. Coleman-Romeo; Wende Williams; and Lori Ann Roper.

In the 11th Subcircuit, which includes parts of Elk Grove, Maine, Norwood Park, Leyden, Proviso and Oak Park townships, along with some Chicago neighborhoods, the CBA found Audrey Victoria Cosgrove, Kim Przekota and Dawn Gonzalez qualified.

In the 12th Subcircuit, which includes parts of Wheeling, Northfield, New Trier, Elk Grove and Maine townships, the CBA found Maria McCarthy highly qualified. Alon Stein, Frank J. Andreou and James “Jack” Costello were rated qualified. Pamela Curran Smith and Matthew Taylor were not recommended.

In the 13th Subcircuit, which includes parts of Schaumburg, Palatine, Barrington and Hanover townships, the ISBA found Ralph E. Meczyk and Mary Sevandal Cohen qualified.
