Reforms needed to ease business tax burdens
As president of Simplex System Controls, an industrial equipment supply company in Elmhurst, I am deeply concerned about the impact of stacked costs on our ability to compete and foster innovation.
Businesses across Illinois are facing increased taxes and fees, rising insurance premiums, workers” compensation costs and other regulatory burdens. These escalating costs make it difficult for any business to survive let alone prosper. Plus, the additional time spent trying to comply and even understand new regulations is an unnecessary distraction that pulls us away from serving our clients.
There's an urgent need for reform that alleviates businesses of all sizes from the burden of skyrocketing costs. Regulatory reforms would ease these burdens, creating an environment in which small businesses like mine can thrive and bolster the state's economy.
As a business owner, I urge state policymakers to consider the consequences of these added and nonessential business expenses and the importance of reforming these regulatory costs to ease financial pressures on businesses.
Let us work towards sensible reforms that protect and ensure our small business community can continue to support Illinoisans while working toward economic progress.
