Kenosha men charged with attempted carjacking with firearms

Two Kenosha men were charged with weapons and other felony offenses in connection with an attempted carjacking in Round Lake Beach, officials said Friday.

Police were called to the 900 block of East Rollins Road about 12:45 p.m. Thursday on a report of an attempted carjacking in which two men showed they had a firearm.

According to a news release, the men ran from officers through several parking lots and into wooded area as police headed to the scene but could not be located.

An officer on patrol saw two men matching the description from the attempted carjacking report at 2:08 p.m. walking up and down the parking aisles of a business on the 700 block of East Rollins Road, police said.

The men again ran when the officer tried to stop them, but they were apprehended after a brief chase, according to police. The attempted carjacking victim identified the pair, and officers also recovered a two firearms during the arrest, according to the news release.

One officer was suffered minor injuries but declined treatment.

Cadin A. Ziccarelli, 19, was charged with attempted aggravated vehicular hijacking; aggravated unlawful use of a weapon for being under 21, having no concealed carry permit or firearm identification card, non-probational aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting arrest causing injury. All are felonies.

Timothy L. Reed, 21, was charged with attempted aggravated vehicular hijacking and the same four aggravated unlawful use of a weapon charges, except being under 21. He was being held at Lake County jail pending a court date Monday.

Court information for Ziccarelli was not immediately available.
