Enjoy live music performances with Gail Borden Library

Sunday Afternoon Concerts

The Sunday Afternoon Concerts take place from 2 to 3 p.m. in the Meadows Community Rooms of the main library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.

The March 10 performance will feature young musicians from the nationally recognized training center, the Music Institute of Chicago. They will perform classical favorites including Beethoven, Brahms, Grieg and Prokofiev.

On April 14, Millikin University’s School of Music will present the 2024 Hollis Prize Winner’s Recital through the generosity of MU alumnus Dr. Kimm Hollis.

ESO Listeners Club

Broaden your understanding of the music that will be performed at the upcoming Elgin Symphony Orchestra Classics Masterworks performance. The next discussion will take place from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 3, in the Main Library Meadows Community Rooms.

Nothing But Treble

The local chorus Nothing But Treble will sing a repertoire for women’s voices of every genre with a strong nod to female composers and music from around the world. The performance will be 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 7, at the Rakow Branch, 2751 W. Bowes Road, Elgin.

An Evening of Popular Jazz Music

On Wednesday, April 10, join in celebrating National Jazz Month with Chicago-area jazz pianist Chris White, a talented musical artist who has performed in some of Chicago’s top clubs. It will be 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Main Library Meadows Community Rooms. Originally from Toronto, Chris White has been a rock-solid presence in the Chicago jazz community since his arrival in 2000. His performance credits include the Chicago Jazz Festival, The Jazz Showcase, the Green Mill and Andy's Jazz Club, among others. White is an in-demand educator as well, teaching piano, theory and ensembles at Lake Forest College, North Park University and North Central College. He is also well known for his trio's crowd-pleasing performances of Vince Guaraldi's “Charlie Brown Christmas” album. This evening, White will perform a concert of popular jazz favorites.
