One hurt in 3-vehicle crash that downed power lines in Palatine

One person was hurt early Thursday morning in a three-vehicle crash on Dundee Road in Palatine that caused power lines to fall and roads to be closed for several hours.

Police said a 27-year-old man was driving east on Dundee Road headed toward the Quentin Road intersection at about 8 a.m. when he struck two other eastbound vehicles, lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole, downing power lines.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries that weren’t considered life threatening, police said. Occupants in the other two cars refused treatment.

Because of the downed power lines, sections of Dundee and Quentin roads were closed for several hours.

The crash remains under investigation. Citations could be issued in the coming days, police said.
