Our Saviour’s in Naperville to host blood drive March 20

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St. in Naperville, will host a community blood drive with Versiti Blood Center of Illinois from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 20.

All are invited to give the gift of life during this season of Lent — each blood donation can help save up to three lives. Versiti, too, is the leading supplier of blood to Naperville’s Edward Hospital, which is located next door to the Our Saviour’s campus.

Less than 10% of the eligible U.S. population donates blood, according to Versiti, but more than 75% of Americans who reach age 72 will need blood sometime in their lifetime.

One in seven hospital patients, on average, requires blood during their stay. Younger and diverse donors in particular are sought to help meet nationwide blood needs.

Donors should bring a photo ID and should eat and drink before their donation. Snacks and refreshments will be available to all donors. Advance registration is encouraged, but walk-ins also are welcome. To sign up, visit donate.illinois.versiti.org or call 800-7TO-GIVE.
