St. Paddy’s 5K Celebrates 15 Years of Running to Help Others

Get active for an excellent cause with the Naperville Sunrise Rotary’s St. Paddy’s Day 5K!

Set for Saturday, March 9, at 8 a.m. in downtown Naperville, the 5K walk/run will take place just before the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Sponsored by Gerald Subaru of Naperville, the event will support a variety of community initiatives, including local nonprofits that benefit youth education and character-building programs.

“This is the first event of the year that we, as a community, come together outside,” said Ryan Siebert, race chair and a member of the Naperville Sunrise Rotary. “Despite some cold years in the past, the community really looks forward to this event, and the West Suburban Irish Parade that happens in Downtown Naperville right after our run is complete. For the Downtown Naperville area, it is a surge in activity with runners and paradegoers alike filling the restaurants and shops.”

Hosted by Naperville Running Company, the St. Paddy’s Day 5K is now in its 15th year. Participants are encouraged to dress in green, and registration will be available until 7:55 a.m. on race day at https://saintpaddysday5k.com/. On-site registration is also available. Prizes will be awarded to the top overall male and female runners and commemorative prizes to the top three male and female runners per age division.

“Rotary's mission is to put service above self,” Siebert said. “This is a great example of that ringing true. Our club is down to around 35 people, but we still find a way to put on three large community events a year. Between the efforts our group puts in and sponsors like Gerald Auto, we are able to produce events that inspire the community and allow us to give back to nonprofits in the form of grant money each year.”

Siebert said he is grateful for the generous support of Gerald Subaru of Naperville, which helps to make the 5K possible.

“From our perspective at Rotary, the run isn't possible without the support of Gerald each and every year,” Siebert said. “They continue to assist us with their followers in helping promote the event, and their generosity yearly allows us to set the foundation for sponsorship generation. We are able to make marketing and race day upgrades yearly because we are confident in their support each year.”

Gerald Subaru of Naperville is proud to sponsor the St. Paddy’s 5K.

“The St. Paddy’s 5K is the perfect way to welcome spring,” said Donna Lawler of the Gerald Auto Group. “This is such a wonderful event and a fun opportunity to show your community spirit while helping local nonprofits.”
