Support, connection and a night away for moms who need it the most

“Moms’ Night Out” for mothers of children with diabetes comes to Chicago

Diabetes Connections is excited to announce that our signature event, Moms’ Night Out, is coming to Chicago in April. This event provides mothers of children with diabetes an opportunity to connect, share experiences, learn from expert speakers, and have fun.

Conceived as a one-time conference in January of 2023, organizers decided to expand after hearing from moms all over the country. The Chicago event will be the fifth Moms’ Night Out conference.

"This must be how our kids feel at diabetes camp!” said Liz Kroger, who attended the Charlotte, NC event. “So awesome to be surrounded by ‘our people’ who just get it without explanation.”

Living with type 1 diabetes can be challenging for both children and their parents, but mothers often bear a significant portion of the responsibility for managing their child's diabetes. Moms’ Night Out aims to provide these mothers with a chance to take a break from their daily routine, meet other moms who are going through the same experiences, and learn new strategies for managing T1D.

“In the 17+ years since my son was diagnosed with type 1, I have attended dozens of diabetes conferences and events,” says organizer Stacey Simms. “Now I’ve taken the best elements from those events and created a brand new experience. We’re going to have lots of diabetes technology for people to see and learn about, stress-relieving social time, and speakers who will get attendees energized and ready to face the challenges of parenting a child with diabetes.”

Diabetes Connections presents: Moms’ Night Out is coming to:

Charlotte, NC Feb 2-3

Chicago, IL April 12-13

Denver, CO Sept 20-21

Philadelphia, PA Oct 25-26

"We know how important it is for mothers of children with diabetes to have a support system and access to valuable resources," says Simms. " Moms’ Night Out is designed to provide both. We’re excited to bring this event to more cities.
