Get ready for the upcoming solar eclipse with Schaumburg Library

Schaumburg Township District Library has several programs coming up to help your whole family prepare for this spring’s solar eclipse.

On Tuesday, March 19, join the library online from 7-8:30 p.m. for a visit with Michelle Nichols of the Adler Planetarium. Michelle Nichols is director of Public Observing at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, and has worked at the Adler since June 1995. She leads all of the Adler Planetarium’s telescope, observatory and public sky observing initiatives and events, and will tell us about the Great Northern Eclipse.

All ages are welcome to register to receive free solar eclipse glasses from the library. Limit two per family.

Schaumburg Library is joining with Harper College for a Solar Eclipse Party for all ages from 1-3 p.m. on Monday, April 8. Bring a picnic and head to Harper College, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine, to look through telescopes, enjoy crafts and storytimes, and ask all of your eclipse-related questions.

To learn more about these programs and to register, visit schaumburglibrary.org/events or call (847) 985-4000.

For online programs, after registering, you’ll receive a link to join the program about one hour before the program begins.
