Genealogy programs are back at Schaumburg Library

Schaumburg Township District Library is back to offering informative, interesting genealogy programs, with four programs scheduled for this spring.

A family tradition might say one thing about an ancestor, but is it accurate? Researching the passed down story might reveal something quite different. Unearthing genealogical data can lead to new discoveries, and possibly a more interesting family tale. Join the library for “Truth or Fiction?: Unraveling a Family Yarn” from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19. Attend in-person at the Central Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, or online on Zoom.

Have you taken advantage of studying your family’s history with the many resources that are offered at Schaumburg Library? If not, join the library for “Genealogical Tools Found at our Library,” online on Zoom from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, to learn how we can help facilitate your research.

Join the library in-person at the Central Library or online on Zoom from 7-8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 and Tuesday, May 7, for parts one and two of “Mixers and Shakers: Trace your Saloon Ancestors Before Prohibition.” Temperance advocates celebrated victory when America went dry in 1920. For a short time, the great experiment appeared to curb the ills associated with imbibing alcohol. However, American drinking culture moved to private clubs, home production and overtly shady acquisition. Demystify your ancestor’s relationship with alcohol from 1920-1933 an assortment of Prohibition and post-repeal day resources.
