Cook County approves transportation projects in Barrington, Des Plaines

The Cook County Board recently approved funding for several transportation-related projects in the suburbs.

In Barrington, the board approved spending $42,542 for construction of sidewalk along Prairie Avenue with accessibility improvements serving Grove Elementary School.

In Des Plaines, the county will spend $75,000 for professional engineering services for a shared use path for pedestrians and bicyclists along Devon Avenue from Stillwell Avenue to Des Plaines River Road, completing a critical gap in the existing network.

In Niles, the board approved a $132,500 expenditure for professional design services for a safety project along Shermer Road between Waukegan and Dempster roads to reduce crashes and provide safe streets for pedestrians and cyclists.
