Political remarks were unrelated to Vietnam Memorial

Regarding the College of DuPage emeritus English professor’s “guest view.” Expressing sentimentality about the thousands of Americans killed in Vietnam is nice but offering us his personal disgust with President Trump seems to me to be unrelated to the Vietnam Memorial. I was commissioned 59 years ago with a classmate who later died in Vietnam while piloting a helicopter and served there myself. Three thoughts come to mind: 1) Our government could have ended the Vietnam war in short order had we leaders who were willing to protect our personnel with overwhelming force; 2) President Biden is utterly feckless as proven by his cowardly, and deadly for 13 military service members, withdrawal from Afghanistan; and 3) President Biden read his wristwatch while 13 coffins were ceremoniously removed from the transport plane. Disparaging comments invite reciprocity.
