Annual test is harrassment, waste
I had two senior citizen relatives who became dangerous drivers due to age-related problems. One had significant vision loss and the other had dementia. They both kept passing their annual driving tests. Test examiners changed answers on written tests to pass them. The one with vision loss voluntarily stopped driving after causing an accident. The one with dementia had to be forcibly stopped by family members. They are both now deceased. I have heard numerous similar stories from other people.
It is well known that DMV examiners try hard to avoid failing older drivers. A person may need to actually cause an accident while taking the test to fail. The annual test does not weed out people who should not be driving anymore and it never has. Therefore it is a harassment and a tremendous waste of time and money, that should be stopped.
