Celebrate National Meatball Day Swedish style

Celebrate National Meatball Day Swedish style with a benefit dinner for the Swedish American Children’s Choir on Saturday, March 9, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Batavia.

The dinner will feature Swedish meatballs and gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, lingonberries, Swedish rye bread and Swedish desserts.

A vegetarian option of vegetable balls in place of meat is available.

A chef from Gothenburg Sweden will be preparing the meal with his authentic recipes from Sweden from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the church, 8 S. Lincoln St.

Featured will be Swedish and American baked goods for sale.

A magician and balloon artist will entertain as well as a very special guest performer. All proceeds from the event benefit the choir performance tour fund.

The choir, in its 25th year, is the largest of its kind in the Midwest and comprised of children, age 4-17 from the Fox Valley and surrounding suburbs.

They present performances of Swedish songs and Scandinavian dances throughout the area and beyond. They are yearly performers at Swedish Days in Geneva as well as other venues.

Dinner tickets are by reservation only and carryout orders are available.

Tickets are $16, $8 for children, age 3-10, and under 3 are free but need a ticket.

Call the choir office (630) 414-9700 for reservations.
