Endorsement: Rodgers for Kane County Recorder

A newcomer and a familiar name to voters will face off in the Kane County recorder of deeds primary race.

Democrats Brenda Rodgers, of Elgin, and Marisela Villegas, of Aurora, are running in the primary for the recorder's office — primarily responsible for maintaining public records and documents relating to real estate — hoping to face off against incumbent Republican Sandy Wegman in November.

Rodgers is no stranger to this race. She is running for county recorder for the third time. Her 30-plus years of experience as a real estate agent and her tenure on the Elgin City Council would serve her well in this role.

Villegas is running for this office for the first time. She currently works in the recorder’s office as an assistant. Although her role at the county has helped her gain valuable experience and offered her an inside look at the recorder job, Villegas would benefit from more exposure at the county level.

Rodgers is a knowledgeable candidate who has the experience to run against Wegman. She offers strong proposals for improvements and has a solid connection with the voters. Rodgers is endorsed.
