Why are you running for this office? Is there a particular issue that motivates you? If so, what?

I have decided to run for office because I want to learn more about how expenditures and fiscal resources are distributed in both Kane County and my district. As a mother, wife, and business owner, I understand the needs of our constituents and members of our community. I have been living in Aurora for over 20 years and I have never seen an elected representative staying in constant contact with their respective community, except for social and political events. The people need more than that! Representing our community means having face time, a personal touch, and being the voice of those who feel unheard. We need change and I am hoping to bring it!

What experiences and background would you bring to the office and how do these affect the way you would serve on the county board?

As a first-generation Mexican American citizen, I have a personal understanding of my community's needs. My experience in insurance securities, finance, and fiscal responsibility gives me the confidence to act in the best interest of the constituents in my county and district. I have worked with organizations that have limited resources, which has taught me how to utilize local and state resources to meet the needs of a fragile community.

What do you consider the three most-serious issues facing the county and how would you address them?

The issues I consider to be the most important are transparency, budgeting and levy, and the Health Department.

I plan to work closely with all the other district representatives at county meetings. Collaborating with others will help us find solutions that better serve our community members.

Transparency is key. We must learn what our community members want and need. After all, knowledge is power! It is imperative that all community representatives work together and always remember that we were elected to serve our community with dignity and respect.

Another priority is getting involved with the Health Department and the committee to understand the mental and physical health needs that are essential to the health and wellness of our community. I hope to learn more about how we can fill the gaps, if any, between the services that are provided and the needs of our community. There is always room for improvement!

How do you rate the health of the county's financial system? Do you support any changes in the county's fiscal policies?

At this moment I would like to gather more information on the county's financial system before providing or supporting any changes to the county's Fianacial system.

Why are you the best person to serve in this role?

We need more vocal representatives that can identify themselves with the community, more representatives that are willing to take the time to listen to what the community has to say. I think I am a perfect fit, commitment and discipline are key factors in success for me.
