Libertyville DAR Chapter hosting free genealogy workshops

The Ansel Brainerd Cook chapter holds monthly genealogy workshops from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lower lever of the Cook Memorial Public Library, at 413 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville.

The Ansel Brainerd Cook chapter is a partner/affiliate organization with the Cook Library. Their genealogy collection consists of over 2,000 reference and circulating books. The library also has 10 online genealogy research databases. They are also a FamilySearch affiliate library.

The Cook Library puts out a monthly genealogy newsletter “ins & outs” and includes the DAR Workshop dates in the newsletter.

The ABC genealogy meetings are scheduled on Wednesdays; March 6, May 1, June 5, July 3 and Sept. 4; and on Saturdays; April 6 and Aug. 3.

No registration needed; walk ins are welcome. Stop by with your genealogy tree and/or laptop for one-on-one research help.

The ABC chapter has several genealogists ready, willing and able to help anyone research their family tree. At the workshops participants will receive help and learn how to research their ancestry using the DAR database and will also be given additional recommendations for internet research.

The DAR is an all-women lineage service organization that can prove lineal descent to a patriot that supported the American Revolution.

DAR members have committed to volunteer service, having served more than 12.5 million hours in communities throughout the world. The Ansel Brainerd Cook chapter last year recorded over 7,000 volunteer service hours in the communities in which they work and live.
