Learn ways to get involved in your community with Schaumburg Library’s Civic Awareness Series

Schaumburg Township District Library, in partnership with the League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area, continues its monthly civic awareness series with three new programs this spring.

On Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m., three of Illinois’ past and present female politicians will hold a panel discussion on what inspired them to get involved with politics, the importance of women in political leadership and their visions to inspire more women to get involved and have their voices heard. Panelists include State Rep. Mary Beth Canty, Former Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti and State Sen. Laura Murphy.

On Tuesday, April 9 at 7 p.m., join library advocate and Arlington Heights Memorial Library trustee Debbie Smart to learn about the current state of book banning. Smart is a constant and vocal supporter of her library, and every library, as the place that brings the community together.

On Tuesday, May 14 at 7 p.m., the Schaumburg Township Mental Health Board will joins the library in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month to talk about how your town can support you on your mental health journey.

These programs will all be held online on Zoom. After registering, you’ll receive a link to join the program about one hour before the program begins.
