Arlington Heights plans to replace residential water meters

With many water meters across Arlington Heights approaching or beyond their useful life cycle — resulting in inaccurate readings or failure — the village is planning to exchange all residential water meters by the end of 2025.

The new smart water meters will be compatible with the village’s water billing financial system and improve customer service by identifying excessive water usage as it happens and avoid an increase in bills due to inadvertent running water or leaks, officials say.

Working with contractor Professional Meters Inc., staff will work through seven identified zones to effectively find all meters that need to be replaced.

The work is scheduled to begin this week. To see answers to frequently asked questions, a map of the seven zones and learn more about the program, visit www.vah.com/meters.
