People on the move: New hires at Bradford Allen, Inland, Savant Wealth Management

Bradford Allen names Michael Cannon Senior Managing Director of Development

• Michael Cannon has joined Bradford Allen, a national full-service real estate firm, as senior managing director of development, overseeing adaptive reuse, renovation and new construction of residential and commercial real estate.

Before joining Bradford Allen, Cannon was a vice president with Sterling Bay, where he managed the development of life science and other office properties, as well as multifamily projects in Chicago and other major U.S. cities.

“Michael has vast knowledge of the construction industry and a proven track record of leadership and success building new developments in the U.S. and internationally,” said Jeff Bernstein, principal and co-founder of Bradford Allen. “As we identify more opportunities for ground-up construction or capital improvements in the office, retail, multifamily and industrial sectors, Michael is a natural fit to help us accelerate our pipeline of large-scale projects in top-tier markets across the country.”

Cannon will manage design, construction and consulting teams through every stage of the development process, from pre-construction to completion. He will play a pivotal role in several of Bradford Allen’s current high-profile new construction and adaptive reuse projects in Illinois, Indiana, Florida and Tennessee, including a mixed-use project in Arlington Heights featuring 300 apartments, 25,000 square feet of retail and a 150,000-square-foot medical office complex known as ArlingtonMed.

David Kasprzak joins Inland as national sales manager

• David Kasprzak has joined Inland Securities Corporation as executive vice president and national sales manager.

The Oak Brook-based firm is the exclusive dealer manager and placement agent for real estate investment programs offered by Inland Real Estate Investment Corporation and its affiliates, which are part of The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, Inc.

“David’s proven track record and 20-plus years of exceptional financial services and investment product sales experience complements our leadership team,” said Michael Ezzell, president and chief executive officer of Inland Securities.

Kasprzak is working with Inland Securities’ Charles Jensen, managing director of the western division; Gary Callahan, managing director of the eastern division; and Kevin Davis, managing director of the institutional division, focusing on expanding the reach across the wealth management channel. He also is responsible for the overall strategy and sales performance initiatives in connection with Inland’s various capital raising initiatives.

Kasprzak previously served as managing director at Robert A. Stanger & Company, where he worked with alternative investment fund sponsors on the formation of new offerings. He previously held leadership positions with RAE LLC, Forum Real Estate Group, Benefit Street Partners and Broadstone Real Estate LLC.

Jon Zindel joins Savant Wealth Management

• Jon W. Zindel recently joined Savant Wealth Management, a nationally recognized, fee-only registered investment adviser, as its chief financial officer.

Zindel has more than 30 years in the industry and previously served as partner, CFO and executive committee member at Chicago-based William Blair, where he also led technology, human resources, real estate, and philanthropy.

Savant Wealth Management has locations in Chicago, Downers Grove, Hoffman Estates, Lincolnshire, Naperville, St. Charles and Wilmette.

“We realized about a year ago that we needed someone with in-depth knowledge, experience, and creative problem-solving ability to help Savant accelerate its long-term growth,” said Brent Brodeski, Savant’s CEO. “We made the decision to part ways with our previous CFO at the end of August and began a nationwide search to find a proven industry leader to help us scale our platform for growth. Jon more than fits the bill, and I couldn’t be more excited to have him join our team.”

Zindel will be a member-owner in Savant and joins other employees who collectively own about 65% of the firm. A graduate of Loyola University, Zindel began his career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and also served as CFO and head of tax and financial reporting for 16 years at privately held American Century Investments, headquartered in Kansas City.

Proper Title launches national commercial services division

Proper Title, LLC, a full-service title insurance agency primarily serving the Midwest, has launched a national commercial services division, promoting Charity Murow from senior underwriting counsel to director of underwriting and compliance.

The agency also added Cullen Marshall as national commercial underwriting counsel and Dolores Saavedra as senior national construction escrow manager.

“As the number of our commercial real estate closings has risen in recent years, and the awareness that Proper Title can also assist our local clients on a national level, we knew the best way to meet market demand was to expand our services with a dedicated national team,” said Kathy Kwak, COO of Proper Title. “Charity Murrow has done a fantastic job handling our local and national commercial transactions to date, but as word spread across our clients how well we handle their national deals with the same attention to client service as their local deals, that’s when our national commercial business really took off.”

In addition to providing title insurance and underwriting for commercial real estate transactions nationally, Proper Title has an in-house construction escrow team that manages the distribution of funds on construction projects.

Murow will lead the underwriting charge of the newly formed division, which officially launched in January, following Proper Title’s biggest year ever for commercial real estate transactions. In 2023, the title insurance agency closed more than 80 national commercial real estate deals.

Marshall most recently served as vice president and regional underwriting counsel for Title Resources Guaranty Company in St. Louis.

A 23-year veteran of construction escrow, Saavedra most recently was vice president and construction escrow manager at Near North Title Group in Chicago. Before that, she spent 18 years at First American Title Insurance Co. in Chicago as a senior construction escrow officer.

Lee & Associates of Illinois promotes three brokers

• Rosemont-based Lee & Associates, the largest broker-owned commercial real estate firm in North America, recently promoted three Chicago-based brokerage professionals across its industrial and office platforms.

Andrew Block has been named executive vice president. He’s been with the firm more than seven years, focusing on Chicago’s West suburban marketplace, specifically Interstate 88 and the Fox Valley. Block’s expertise is in helping businesses with property sales, real estate purchases, new lease transactions and lease renewals.

Carole Caveney

Carole Caveney has been named senior vice president. She joined Lee & Associates in 2020 and serves a wide range of clients and assignments primarily in the South and Southwest Cook area and the East/West corridor. She specializes in the leasing and disposition of office and commercial properties and land sites and represents tenants and buyers.

Dylan Maher

Dylan Maher has been named senior vice president. He has been with the company since 2020 and focuses on industrial leasing and sales in the South Chicago, South Cook and the I-55 corridor industrial markets.
