Youth sports focus valuable, appreciated

Anyone who reads the Daily Herald sports section has noticed the growing emphasis you’ve placed on local high school sports. I’ll be honest, I’m more of a pro sports fan. Fortunately, there’s plenty of really good Daily Herald writers already committed to following our Chicago teams. But, truth be told, your high school sports coverage is really comprehensive and very unique. You can’t find it in any other Chicago papers.

My kids are all grown up, but I really enjoy the special interest articles you have that focus on both high school athletes and their coaches. High school sports provides our kids with wonderful opportunities to compete, grow, and build both athletic and life skills.

Your writers do a great job of capturing the spirit and value of high school sports. I, for one, appreciate the time and effort your team has put forth to capture this important part of sports competition.

Thank you.
