League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area ‘Meet the Candidates Night’ canceled

The League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area invited candidates in contested races in the primary election to participate in a “Meet the Candidates Night” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, at the Gail Borden Library in Elgin.

The event was canceled due to insufficient candidate response. League policy prohibits forums where only one candidate for office participates.

Invitations were sent to:

• Democratic candidates for Kane County Recorder:

Brenda Rogers agreed to participate and her candidate questionnaire is on the league’s “Voters Guide” on the website. Marisela Villegas did not respond.

• Democratic candidates for Kane County Board District 22:

Randy Hopp did not respond. Verner (Vern) Tepe agreed to participate; his candidate questionnaire is on the league’s “Voters Guide” on the website.

• Republican candidates for Kane County Board District 16:

Michael Kenyon agreed to participate; his candidate questionnaire is on the league’s website. Eric Stare is unwilling to participate

Information about the candidates who agreed to participate may be found on our LWVEA website, lwvelginarea.org, and on the LWVIL website, IllinoisVoterGuide.org.
