The Venue hosts St. Patrick’s Day celebration and benefit March 16

The Venue in Aurora will host a St. Patrick’s Day celebration and benefit featuring The Irish Mystics on Saturday, March 16.

Dave Glynn, a veteran Irish singer songwriter and guitarist, heads up The Irish Mystics. The former leader of the Empty Can Band also goes by his full name, David Sean Glynn, for the special occasion. Band members include Rich Van Ham on harmonica, James “Chevy” Chevalier on bass, Wes Carr on fiddle and mandolin, and Mark Van Ham on drums.

The Irish Mystics formed during the pandemic to raise funds for The Venue when the music room offered livestreamed shows.

Now back on the stage, the show also will offer raffle prizes and the audience can order beverages and snacks from the bar.

“We’ll cover a wide range of Irish songs. It’ll be a rollicking good time,” said Glynn, who is also the board chair of Fox Valley Music Foundation.

Glynn has performed at Irish festivals and pubs and at an engagement at University of Notre Dame on St. Patrick’s Day. Glynn said the band will perform both Irish traditional music and Irish rockers, spanning The Clancy Brothers to Thin Lizzy.

The Venue, 21 S. Broadway, is a live music performance room in downtown Aurora that is run by the nonprofit Fox Valley Music Foundation. All proceeds will benefit the foundation and help bring live music to the room.

The show starts at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $15 for general admission and $20 for table seating. For more information or tickets, visit themusicvenue.org.
