Beneficiaries named for Naperville Sunrise Rotary St. Paddy’s Day 5K

Registration is now underway for the 14th annual Sunrise Rotary Naperville Running Company St. Paddy’s Day 5K on Saturday, March 9. It will be at 8 a.m. in downtown Naperville.

Sponsored by Legacy Sponsor Gerald Cares and held in cooperation with the West Suburban Irish, the St. Paddy’s Day 5K is held immediately prior to the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The race is one of the first certified 5K’s of the running season in the area, and often sells out.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Naperville Sunrise Rotary’s NAMI DuPage’s Ending the Silence program working with area schools to promote early recognition and intervention for children at risk of mental illness; Samaracare Mental Health Access to subsidize fees for counseling for children and adolescents; and West Suburban Community Pantry for Child Nutrition Programs including in-school and weekend food support.

Corporate sponsor opportunities, registration and volunteer openings can be found at the website, saintpaddysday5k.com.

“We anticipate the generosity of our sponsors, the dedication of our volunteers, and the unwavering support of our participants to make this year's event a remarkable success,” said Ryan Siebert, chair and Sunrise Rotarian.

“Runners, walkers, families of all abilities and even four-legged companions are expected to join in, typifying the inclusivity and warmth that defines Naperville's community events,” Siebert said. “We're looking forward to everyone's involvement and commitment to giving back to our community, while having fun together with family and friends.”

St. Patrick’s Day themed costumes and hats are encouraged. Costume awards encourage participants to enter into the festive spirit of the event by donning their St. Patrick’s Day finery for the run. Participants receive a collectible St. Paddy’s Day 5K technical running shirt.

Prizes are awarded to the top overall male and female runners and commemorative prizes to the top three male and female runners per age division. Post-run refreshments will be offered. Race times will be posted online.
