Naperville League of Women Voters to host online forum for Democratic candidates for the 11th Congressional District

Naperville voters are invited to attend an online forum at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 28, featuring the Democratic candidates for the Illinois 11th Congressional seat.

Candidates who have accepted the invitation are: incumbent Bill Foster and Qasim Rashid. It is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Naperville.

The public forum is free, but guests must register in advance. Go to shorturl.at/szMX4 to register. Voters are invited to submit possible questions to candidates by emailing them to lwvnapervill@gmail.com no later than 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25.

Visit the lwvnaperville.org for more information and/or join the organization. All individuals age 16 or older are welcome to become members of the League of Women Voters.

Unlike a debate, a forum involves a neutral, trained moderator from outside the district who presents questions to candidates for their live responses.

The League of Women Voters, founded in 1920, envisions a democracy where every individual has a desire, the right, the knowledge and the confidence to participate. The League believes in the power of citizens to create a more perfect democracy and has been conducting forums as part of its voter education mission for decades. The League is proud to be nonpartisan, neither supporting nor opposing candidates or political parties at any level of government, but always working on vital issues of concern to its members and the public. The League of Women Voters encourages all voters to mark their calendars for March 19 as a reminder to vote.
