9-year-old in hospital with life-threatening wounds after stabbing in Beach Park

A 9-year-old child is in critical condition after being stabbed in Beach Park Thursday.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies responded to a stabbing report on the 38000 block of North Manor Avenue at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, according to a sheriff’s news release.

Deputies discovered the child in the home with multiple stab wounds. The child was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries.

Deputies realized a 30-year-old male suspect, from the 38000 block of North Manor Avenue, left the home before their arrival. He was taken into custody when he was found at a nearby train station.

The Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division continues to investigate the stabbing.
