Lenten Taizé prayer includes healing service at St. Thomas the Apostle Church Feb. 26

The Lenten Taizé prayer service at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church on Monday, Feb. 26, will include a healing service for anyone in need of physical, emotional, spiritual or relational healing.

The service will be held at 7 p.m. in the Lighthouse room of the church, 1500 Brookdale Road, Naperville.

Taizé includes vocal and silent prayer intertwined with simple, sung meditative refrains and readings from Scripture. Following Taizé reflection, those seeking special prayers will be invited to stand and an individual — a pray/er — will join each of the people standing to pray, one on one with that person, while the entire community present prays silently for each petitioner’s confidential intention. Taizé services began in war-torn Taizé, France, when a group of young Christians from Eastern Europe settled there in August 1940. Since then, Taizé prayer has spread throughout the world. By its very simplicity, Taizé welcomes the mystery of God and allows that mystery to become tangible.
