Expert visits Mundelein Woodworkers Guild
Mundelein Tool Library's new Mundelein Woodworkers Guild was recently privileged to have 88-year-old Mundelein resident Tom Sashko insruct six of its certified woodworkers on a beautiful wood lathe he had previously donated. The session was highly informative and will expand the woodworker's knowledge base.
The tool library recently opened the 1,800-square-foot woodshop for all Lake County residents. In order to use the shop, users must first join the Mundelein Woodworkers Guild and complete a certification process overseen by woodshop manager. This is intended to assure the user's safety and that they are familiar with the machines available. After joining the guild, members may pay for blocks of shop time or get hours credited by volunteering at the MTL. Currently, there are three hour blocks of open time from 7-10 p.m. on Tuesdays and 1-4 p.m. Thursdays. They are hoping to expand to include Saturday afternoon shop times in the near future.
Shop managers Larry Lustig, Brett Loding, Arlan Converse, Don Steward, Bert Gaide, John Murphy, Mark Wilson and others put countless hours to make this a shop anyone would be proud of.
