John Dietz’s Super Bowl prediction

Chiefs 23, Niners 19

Dietz's comments: This is a tough one. On one hand, the 49ers are a more talented team on both sides of the ball. Many on the roster also desperately want revenge for the loss the Chiefs handed them four years ago. San Francisco needs to grab hold of the momentum right away – get out to a 14-0 or 14-3 lead – and then I do believe Brock Purdy and Co. would prevail.

But how do you bet against Patrick Mahomes? He's become the Michael Jordan of the NFL. Give him a shot and he'll figure out a way to beat you.

The game could come down to the kickers and/or how willing the coaches are to settle for field goals. If they're not, these two defenses can easily thwart fourth-and-shorts, which would result in a low-scoring game.

I see the Chiefs scoring a late TD to take the lead, and Purdy – who is definitely no Joe Montana – turning the ball over as he desperately tries to lead San Francisco to the winning score.
