Buffalo Grove Orchesis show to feature student choreographed dances

Buffalo Grove High School’s Orchesis, under the direction of Michelle Carrison and assistant Hannah Vaselaney, will present its annual dance show at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 8-10.

This year’s performance is titled “ENVISION.” This event will showcase the talents of the versatile dancers in ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz and tap. Tickets may be purchased for students during the show week at a student rate of $7. All tickets for adults sold at the door are $10.

“ENVISION” comprises 19 dances, 14 of which are student choreographed and five of which were choreographed by professional guest artists from the Chicago area: Skyler Newcome from Giordano Dance Chicago; Claire Hutchins, a local dancer/choreographer and District 214 alum; Colleen Hollis, professional dancer, choreographer and five-year Chicago Luvabull; and professional dancer and hip-hop choreographer Chris Xayarath, currently dancing for Disney World.

The 2024 Orchesis members are Alex Anagnostakos, Paige Anderson, Kyla Carrison, Grace Carroll, Olivia Deredowski, Emily Dulany, Isabella Escalante, Molly Fitzsimmons, Lacey Gord, Isabella Cuffaro, Jada Gross, Michaela Gruszka, Leah Hasley, Lindsey Hoffman, Camille Kastein, Jane Kinnee, Sammie Kosnoff, Natalie Larkowski, Kyana Luyando, Ava Magliano, Katie Mason, Amanda Merret, Dawn Park, Mia Passannante, Milana Podlinevas, Allie Reid, Anna Royz, Hannah Shultz, Allison Smith, and Dani Zanini.

There will be a special ADAGIO dance featuring a group of male Buffalo Grove student athletes.

Each performance will also include a raffle with prizes.
