Buffalo Grove appoints new HR director

Buffalo Grove has promoted Kathryn “Katie” Golbach to human resources director effective Monday, village officials announced recently.

The human resources department is responsible for recruitment and retention, benefits and claims administration, labor management, training and organizational development.

Golbach began her career in local government with Carpentersville in 2016 before joining Buffalo Grove in 2018 as a human resources management analyst. She was promoted to human resources manager in early 2023. During her tenure she has implemented an online open enrollment program and a new applicant tracking software, overhauled the performance evaluation program, drafted new policies and employee handbook revisions and recruited for numerous positions, officials said.

“I’m passionate about this organization and, over the past five years, my commitment to our mission, our people and the positive impact we create together has only deepened,” Golbach said in an announcement of her promotion. “I’m honored to continue serving our dedicated employees and contributing to the ongoing success of the village in this elevated capacity.”
