Keeping perspective on Biden’s age
As a proud member of the Spencer High class of '64, it bugs me when I can't remember the name of the movie I saw last week, or need to pause a couple beats to search for the correct word I want to use, or have to ask my wife, "what'd they say?" even though I'm wearing my hearing aids, or stammer a little on a name I'm not familiar with. I slipped on some stairs a couple years ago, grabbed the railing, tore ligaments in my hands, had surgery and six months of rehab.
Out walking, I didn't notice the uneven crack in the sidewalk, took a tumble, bruised ribs, two months rehab. But I can name 150 countries and find them on a map, read a novel every two weeks, recite the Preamble to the Constitution verbatim, walk nine miles around Istanbul in one day, and usually answer 10 to12 questions on Jeopardy daily. So, l just laugh when my 40- and 50-year old friends say Joe Biden is too old, too infirm, has dementia, needs to resign.
I look forward to seeing how they're doing in 25 years. And I ask why Fox News or conservative social media never seems to mention that Donald Trump often mangles the words on his teleprompter, doesn't know the difference between Tennessee and Louisiana, Sioux Falls and Sioux City, thinks he beat Obama in 2016, says Biden's policies could lead to WWII, states America won the Revolutionary War because we had a better Air Force, hopes the stock market crashes, thinks Russia borders Hungary, and blames Nikki Haley for not stopping the riot on Jan. 6.
You'd think he'd remember Nancy Pelosi's name, as much as he hates her. On his worst day, Joe Biden is sharper, smarter, shows more leadership, understands international relations and works better with our allies, than Donald Trump ever did on his best day. Remember that in November.
