‘Blood sport’ is killing immigration compromise

President Biden took the political gamble and included funding for the border crisis in the current budget proposal. Senate Republicans seized on it as an opportunity to resolve the border crisis. The administration and the Senate have agreed on a proposal.

House Speaker Johnson has indicated that the border crisis is too complicated and cannot be resolved now. In addition, the former president has decried any resolution as it might possibly improve President Biden’s re-election chances.

Politics is now a blood sport. I win; you lose. Who cares about the country?

This crisis needs to be resolved. It won’t happen when you have a Trump government calling the shots and blocking progress. Elections matter.
