Beth Carmody named principal of Fremont Elementary School
Fremont School District 79 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Trisha Kocanda has announced the hire of Beth Carmody as the principal of Fremont Elementary School for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. As part of an administrative restructure, Caromody takes over the role from Stefan Ladenburger who is remaining the principal of Fremont Intermediate School. Ladenburger has served as the principal of both the Elementary and Intermediate schools since 2013.
“Ms. Carmody’s successful leadership experience, coupled with her relationship-oriented approach, made her stand out from a talented pool of candidates,” Kocanda said. “Her expertise in social-emotional learning, literacy, and early childhood education supports our school and district priorities. We are excited to welcome her to our Fremont community.”
Carmody joins Fremont after serving as the K-4 principal at Hubbard Woods School in Winnetka since 2016. She was previously the grade 3-5 principal at Rutledge Hall School in Lincolnwood as well as the principal of Carmel School in Hong Kong. She also has experience as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher at Lincolnwood School District 74 and as an instructional coach at Deerfield School District 109.
Carmody earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Saint Mary’s College, as well as a master’s degree from National-Louis University and her ESL Certification from Benedictine University.
“I am thrilled and honored to be joining the Fremont school district community as the principal of Fremont Elementary School,” Carmody said. “It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of responsibility that I join this remarkable community, known for its dedication to academic excellence and the holistic growth and development of staff and students. I am committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment where every member can thrive. I look forward to this exciting journey.”
