Report of vehicle on tracks in Barrington causes Metra delays

Reports of a vehicle on the Metra Union Pacific Northwest Line tracks in Barrington caused a brief delay for some Thursday morning commuters.

But it turns out that although a crash occurred nearby, a vehicle was not blocking the tracks and no trains were involved, Metra spokeswoman said.

Initial reports of one of the vehicles being on the tracks caused train traffic to be stopped at about 8 a.m., she said. When later reports indicated there was no blockage, train traffic was allowed to resume before 8:30 a.m. One train was delayed as a result.
