Lexington Homes announces new community Metro on Main, 89 townhomes near Metra station in Morton Grove

Chicago-based Lexington Homes is debuting a fresh redesign of its popular Mews series of townhomes in Chicago’s north suburbs with Metro on Main, a new community of 89 townhomes in Morton Grove, Ill. Construction site work has begun, and Metro on Main is scheduled to start sales in spring 2024 with first deliveries and three furnished model homes expected in fall 2024.

Located at 8350 Lehigh Ave. in Morton Grove, just one block south of the Metra train station, Metro on Main will provide maintenance-free living within walking distance to amenities like the Morton Grove Public Library and will be less than a five-minute drive to major retailers such as Amazon Fresh, Kohl’s, Costco, Target and Menards, not to mention scores of restaurants and a newly opened LA Fitness. Residents will be less than a mile from the North Branch Trail System and will have convenient access to Interstates 94 and 294 and will be less than a 10-minute drive to the Dempster Skokie Swift “L” station.

“We’re thrilled to be returning to Morton Grove after the quick pace of sales of our recent townhome community in the area, Lexington Walk, as well as our other successful community we built in 2014 called Lexington Station,” said Jeff Benach, principal of Lexington Homes. “And just like with those communities, Metro on Main offers another great location and flexible floor plans walkable to the Metra station.

“While these communities are based on our award-winning Mews series of townhomes, Metro on Main is the debut of the series’ newly redesigned floor plans, which cater to the needs of today’s homebuyers,” said Benach. “For example, by reconfiguring the staircase, we were able to enhance room sizes throughout the home and increase wall space for more options in furniture placement, including areas to work remotely. We also increased storage space throughout these new plans - the kitchens have walk-in pantries as well as extra cabinets, counter space and enlarged kitchen islands, which feature quartz finish. In bedrooms, we added additional walk-in closets and increased the size of the primary en suite baths.”

Exteriors at Metro on Main also sport a brand-new look compared to Lexington’s previous Morton Grove communities. Metro on Main boasts an English elegance combined with sleek modernity through its black and gray color scheme, stylish brick accents, gabled rooflines, metal trip, lap siding and large six-pane windows for enhanced natural light throughout the homes.

Base-priced from the mid-$440s, the three-level rowhomes will range from 1,780 to 2,278 square feet and offer two to four bedrooms, 2½ to 3½ baths, balconies and attached rear-facing garages. Buyers at Metro on Main will be able to choose from three floor plans - the Orchid, Lotus and Juniper. The Juniper is a new plan in the Mews series that is the largest home, measuring more than 300 square feet larger than the builder’s previous Mews plans.

All three plans offer flex space in their finished lower levels that can serve as a home office, fitness room, children’s play area or home theater, while The Orchid also includes a main-level den that could take on a range of uses.

“With many companies still offering hybrid or fully remote work options, today’s buyers are seeking a home with one, and sometimes two, dedicated office spaces,” said Benach. “Existing homes in this area don’t typically offer up to two work areas, but The Orchid give buyers up to three options for setting up a home office - the den, lower-level flex space or a spare bedroom upstairs.”

And for buyers looking for a super-sized kitchen, the Juniper plan features a first for Lexington - a townhome with a butler’s pantry and walk-in kitchen pantry. “It’s pretty rare to find a new construction townhome at this price point with both of those amenities,” added Benach. “We expect buyers to love this feature for entertaining and being able to store and showcase glassware and bar accessories in one central place.”

All homes at Metro on Main will include 9-foot ceilings and luxury plank flooring throughout the main level. Kitchens will feature 42-inch upper kitchen cabinets, quartz countertops, a large island with breakfast bar overhang and energy-efficient stainless steel GE appliances. Baths, per plan, will include 12x12-inch ceramic flooring, dual sinks, quartz vanity tops and private water closets. Primary suites have walk-in closets. Large storage areas are located on the lower level, which are ideal for stowing seasonal items and decor.

Buyers can choose from a variety of structural upgrades to customize their home, such as adding a powder room on the lower level, traditional or contemporary fireplace in the main level living area and volume ceilings in any upper-level bedroom. Per plan, a two-foot extension can be added to increase square footage in secondary bedrooms, a third bedroom can be added on the upper level, and a fourth bedroom can be added in the lower level.
