Chicago man identified as victim in fatal Des Plaines crash
Des Plaines police on Monday identified a 58-year-old Chicago man as the person killed in a two-vehicle collision Friday night.
Vladimir Barkovskiy died from injuries suffered in the crash, which occurred about 8:25 p.m. at Algonquin and Wolf roads, according to police.
Police said Barkovskiy was driving a 2008 Nissan Rogue east on Algonquin Road when it hit the rear of a 2005 Chevrolet Express van that was stopped at a red light. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The van’s 54-year-old driver wasn’t hurt, police said. The drivers were the only occupants of both vehicles.
