Bears solution
As a Bears season ticket holder for more than two decades, I think that I am witnessing a repeat of history all over again. Abe Gibron had a three-year record of 11-30-1 with a tight end that they tried to make into a quarterback. Bobby Douglass was 6'4" 225 lbs. and could run through and throw a football through a brick wall. His rating never exceeded 49 and his passing record was 36 TDs with 64 INTs but he ran for over 2,600 yards in his career. He was a stud in the wrong position. Now for the solution and that is to gently persuade Justin Fields to switch positions to play wide receiver.
What? Think about having three excellent receivers, a new offensive coach and possibly a highly reqarded rookie QB. Fields is very fast, has good hands, knows the game well and has shown an open field running talent. Think about a jet sweep play with a passing option. Who holds the Bears record for the best pass/touchdowns performance?
Then hire another Buddy Ryan and get him to unleash the Bears to relentlessly run down the opposing QBs and they would then become the Monsters of the Arli-Dome built in Arlington Heights.
Build it and we will come. Can the Bears get Russell Wilson to be the backup for the next QB, then you would be three deep at that position.
