Funeral, visitation for Geneva pastor scheduled
The funeral for the Rev. Jonathan Bakkelund, who died last week while in hospice care, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic church, 1891 Kaneville Road in Geneva.
Visitation for Bakkelund will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, also at the church. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Winnebago.
Bakkelund, 39, had been the pastor at St. Peter since 2016.
He was ordained a priest in 2011, and his first assignment was at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Huntley. He also served at St. Thomas the Apostle and at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, both in Crystal Lake.
