Driver killed in Des Plaines crash

A Des Plaines car crash that left a driver dead Friday night remained under investigation Saturday, police said.

A 58-year-old man whose name wasn’t released by police was killed.

The two-vehicle collision occurred about 8:25 p.m. at Algonquin and Wolf roads.

A 2008 Nissan Rogue headed east on Algonquin Road hit the rear of a 2005 Chevrolet Express van that was stopped at a red light, police said.

The driver of the Nissan couldn’t be saved despite efforts by Des Plaines firefighters, authorities said.

The van’s 54-year-old driver wasn’t hurt, police said.

The drivers were the only occupants of both vehicles.
