Democratic congressional candidates to face off at forum

The Democratic candidates for Illinois’ 6th Congressional District seat will attend a campaign forum Friday night in Chicago.

A group called Southsiders for Peace is holding the 6 p.m. event at Beverly Unitarian Church, 10244 S. Longwood Drive.

U.S. Rep. Sean Casten of Downers Grove is being challenged in the March 19 Democratic primary by Mahnoor Ahmad of Oakbrook Terrace and Charles Hughes of Chicago.

The winner of the Democratic primary will face Republican Niki Conforti of Glen Ellyn in the November general election.

The 6th District includes parts of Cook and DuPage counties. The 11th District encompasses portions of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will, DeKalb and Boone counties.

A pair of recent forums featuring these candidates were disrupted by anti-Israel protesters.
