Protect school choice for the greater good

The recent article about teacher’s union efforts to severely limit parents’ options for school choice is very disturbing. If a good education is the key to a success in one’s working years, how do we ever expect to break the cycle of poverty, crime and depression? Unfortunately, the public schools in Chicago simply aren’t doing the job. Therefore, we simply must offer kids a better alternative. The teachers’ union has a lot of political clout, but in this case, the politicians must consider the greater good and pass legislation that allows for greater school choice not less. Let’s hope voters keep this in mind when voting in this November’s election.
