DAR’s Signal Hill Chapter raises over $17,000 for local nonprofits
Barrington-based Signal Hill Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), completed its fundraising efforts for 2023, and raised more than $17,000 for 501 (c) (3) organizations, specifically in the areas of historic preservation, education, patriotism, conservation and Native American issues.
Recipients include Elgin Public Museum of Natural History and Anthropology, Elgin History Museum, College of Lake County Foundation, Preservation Foundation of the Lake County Forest Preserves, James Lovell Veteran’s Health Center, Lake County Honor Flight, O’Hare USO, Citizens for Conservation and Wreaths Across America, to name just a few.
Fundraising efforts include an “Afternoon Tea and Drama,” held annually at The Garlands of Barrington. Last year’s event featured Martina Mathisen portraying “Louella Parsons and the Golden Age of Hollywood.” This year’s event is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 23.
The Signal Hill Chapter of NSDAR was founded in Barrington, 1972. NSDAR is a volunteer women’s service organization headquartered in Washington, D.C.
Since its founding in 1890, over one million women have joined NSDAR both nationally and around the world. Membership in NSDAR is open to any woman, aged 18 and over, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution.
